Windows & Roof

So far we really haven't done very much work ourselves on the new house other than clean up and weekly burn pile sessions. Memorial Day weekend we were able to install our windows as well as the front door and two patio doors. It was fun to put a little sweat equity into the place. The roofers also started on Friday and were able to finish up in about 2 1/2 days. Thanks to Dad & Drew for helping Troy maneuver in the big doors!

Trusses

Some of the process of building a house makes it seem like not much is happening. The behind the scenes work that is creating the bones of the house. Then there are things that make a huge impact in a very short time. Monday, May 12th, the trusses were delivered and installation began. What a huge difference to come home and see this:

It was great to walk through the house together and get a feel for what the rooms will be like.

Excavation

We are lucky enough to have a great excavator among our good friends. When we were choosing subs for the house there was no question we would ask Paul Obrist to do the work for us. It's been the perfect choice. In two days his guys did a great jog clearing the property and digging out for the foundation. It was amazing how quickly things changed out there!
